Various West Rand residents have complained to the News that when they arrived at their designated voting stations on Monday, November 1, they found that they either had been registered incorrectly on the IEC database, or not registered at all – despite having proof of registration.
The News is looking into the complaints, and is speaking to various interest groups.
Residents who experienced problems and who did not complete an MEC 7 form at the voting station are asked to lodge a Section 65 Objection via email at Objections@elections.org.za no later than Wednesday, November 3 at 17:00.
Information to be included in an objection:
• A reference to the election concerned and the relevant section of the Local Government: Municipal Electoral Act 27 of 2000 in terms of which the objection is brought (see link below)
• The full name and physical address of the objecting party
• The telephone number and email address whereby the objecting party can be contacted
• The interest of the objecting party in the matter
• Name and contact details of the party agent present at the affected voting station
• Details of the objection and the aspect of the election concerned
• Detailed reasons for the objection
• The relief sought
• Supporting documents in relation to the objection
