Strange man found in woman’s bed

A man has been arrested after he was found sleeping between two cousins.

The Kagiso Police have arrested a 33-year-old man who was found sleeping next to his victim.

In a statement from the Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya, he said the Sinqobile man was arrested for rape at about 09:00 on Monday, November 2.

The victim told police that she had spent the night at her aunt’s house, and shared a bed with her cousin and a two-year-old toddler.

When she woke up at around 03:00 the next morning to go to the bathroom she was surprised to find an unknown man sleeping between them. The toddler was also no longer in the bed.

The woman tried to switch on the light but realised that the bulb had been removed.

The stranger immediately got off the bed and laid on the floor. He covered himself with a blanket and pretended to be asleep,” Captain Sibiya said.

The victim called her aunt who switched on the torch on her cell phone and removed the blanket from the stranger.

The women phoned the police and the man was arrested.

“He was later detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of rape was opened.”

The Kagiso Police station commander Brigadier Themba Maduna also said, “It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that doors and windows are locked properly. Women must be over-cautious at all times as some men will take advantage of the situation.”
