‘God can put you together again’

Don’t fix yourself, give the pieces to God and see how God can unscramble a broken egg. God can fix anything. Try him today.

• Pastor Gerrit Mes of the AFM Pentecostal Fellowship writes:

“Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall. Humpty Dumpty had a great fall, all the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty together again.”

A children’s story with an adult message. Humpty was a sad, sorry egg, broken after a fall. No one could help him, no one could put him together again.

Many of us know the feeling of being broken and no one can help fix you. You cannot be put together again.

This story came to mind as I read a verse in the paraphrase Bible called the Message. 2 Samuel 22:31, “God made my life complete when I placed all the pieces before him. When I cleaned up my act, he gave me a fresh start.”

Betrayed, rejected, pushed off the wall of life. Lying in a million pieces with no one able to help you, no one!

It is nice to know that God can put you together again. But there are terms and conditions. You must give God your ‘pieces’.

After covid, divorce and death of someone you love, the brokenness is indescribable. The feeling of hopelessness worse than death. The king cannot put you together again. But this verse gives us hope. Don’t fix yourself, give the pieces to God and see how God can unscramble a broken egg. God can fix anything. Try him today.
