The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng as at December 3 sits at 972 854 with 912 885 recoveries and 19 707 deaths.
A total number of 1 511 people are currently hospitalised in the public (765) and private (746) facilities.
A total of 7 154 105 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as of December 3. The total number of individuals vaccinated is at 4 575 998 with 3 810 775 individuals being fully vaccinated.
In the West Rand, which comprises Mogale City, Rand West City and Merafong City, 483 193 vaccinations have been administered, with 259 964 individuals fully vaccinated.
In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg, 3 100 155 vaccines have been administered with 1 589 489 individuals fully vaccinated.
All persons older than 12 years old are encouraged to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab. It is thought that vaccinating 70% or more of the adult population can minimise the impact of the fourth wave. The Department of Health (DoH) further reminds the public that those who received a two-dose vaccine need to return for their second dose at 42 days.
All Gauteng sites, both private and public, accept walk-ins whether people are registered on the EVDS or not.
