Ending one’s school career in a ‘nice, formal way’

Three learners who would not have been able to attend their matric farewells had the chance to join their peers recently thanks to the kind hearts of a few good Samaritans.

After 12 years of attending school you usually end this chapter of your life with an evening of glitz and glam at your matric farewell.

For some learners from Krugersdorp High School (KHS) this seemed not possible. That was until some good-hearted people pitched in to enable them to walk down the red carpet on Friday, December 3.

Yihan Bronn from Yihan Bronn Couture sponsored a suit for Mogolodi Molefi who looked stylish on the evening, while the two girls were dressed by OMG Bridal. Yihan said he was asked to help. Usually he helps out Meerhof School in Hartbeespoort with their Mr and Mrs Meerhof.

I thought if I could help someone it would be amazing,” Yihan said. He added that the best moment for him was when he saw the look on Mogolodi’s face when he had the suit on as he looked like someone who could take on the world.

Natalie Lawlor and the team from NSPA helped with the make-up, hair, nails, shoes and a stylish ride to the matric farewell.

This is the second year that Natalie and her team pitched in to help learners who could not afford to attend their farewell. It all started when she was doing a matric girl’s hair. Her friend who accompanied her and was cheering her on, told Natalie that she wasn’t going to the matric farewell because they could not afford it.

She then decided that she wanted to help learners who did not have the means to attend their special night.

Louisa Olivier from Wannitta’s Photography sponsored the photo packages and Janine Pretorius took the photos.

The 18-year-old Mogolodi told the News he loved the design of his suit the most. He was looking forward to spending one last evening with his friend and ending his school career in a nice, formal way.

I’m really happy and grateful to everyone who helped because without them I wouldn’t be here tonight.”

He particularly was looking forward to walking the red carpet.
