2 arrested after high-speed Krugersdorp pursuit

The chase began in Noordheuwel and ended in Kagiso, where police assisted in arresting two suspects and securing a vehicle.

Two suspects were arrested recently after Deka Security’s anti-hijacking members pursued a white Toyota motor vehicle allegedly linked to burglaries and gate motor theft incidents in Noordheuwel.

According to Deka’s operational manager Dylan Swanepoel, members of a local community crime group had been providing updates on the vehicle’s movements and sightings.

Following an extensive search on August 8, the suspected vehicle was located in Noordheuwel, where an intense pursuit ensued.

“The pursuit continued through various areas of Krugersdorp, with the suspects driving at extremely high speeds and recklessly and dangerously. During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle was involved in several collisions, creating a serious risk to other motorists and members of the public,” Swanepoel said.

Despite the dangerous driving and challenging circumstances, Deka’s specialised members maintained the pursuit and continued providing updates on the vehicle’s movements.

“The pursuit eventually led into the Kagiso area, where the vehicle was brought to a stop. With the assistance and involvement of police, two suspects were arrested, and the vehicle was secured. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered multiple implements and tools suspected to have been used in housebreaking and gate motor theft,” he added.

According to Swanepoel, the items provided further evidence linking the suspects to criminal activities.
