The West Rand District Health Department’s ward-based battle plan continues and this is where you can expect their services this week.
If you are looking to get tested for Covid-19 or HIV, screened for TB, have your blood sugar screened or even need chronic medication you can visit the following sites:
• Munsieville Care for the Aged, Kagiso Mall and President Hyper from January 16 to January 22
• The Kagiso Chamdor Shoprite from January 17 to January 21
• Swaneville Parlement section on January 18
• Kagiso Extension 13 on January 19
• Featherbrook Hills Retirement Village on January 20
• Featherbrook Spar on January 21
Between January 9 to 15 the teams screened 5 821 community members for Covid-19, and no tests were needed. They also tested 2 713 community members for HIV and all tests were negative.
All 5 731 people screened for TB were asymptomatic.
The teams screened 4 055 people for hypertension and seven people with abnormalities were sent for further management. No abnormalities were detected from the 2 959 people screened for diabetes.
At households 345 chronic medications were delivered, and 48 households were visited for bereavement and to ensure compliance with Covid-19 non-pharmaceutical interventions.
