Power to be restored to certain Mogale City areas – Eskom

Two Mogale City areas have been affected by restoration work to the electrical network by Eskom.

Electricity supplier Eskom reported that the power outages experienced over the weekend in Lanseria and Muldersdrift along with Beverley, Douglasdale, Fourways, Lonehill, Magaliessig, Paulshof and Rietfontein were caused by multiple network faults.

“Supply to the majority of the areas was restored on Sunday, February 6; however on Monday, February 7 some of the areas that had been restored experienced further cable faults and we have been working on fixing them,” Amanda Qithi, Eskom Communication and Stakeholder Relations representative explained.

When we attempted to restore supply on Monday afternoon, the Ring Main Unit experienced a technical error that caused it to explode. Our technicians have been working around the clock, responding to the outages as they are reported, but their efforts to restore supply were delayed by heavy rains, fallen trees and flooded roads. As it stands, the utility is anticipating that supply will be restored on Tuesday, January 8, during the course of the day.”

Daphne Mokwena, Customer Services Senior Manager in the Eskom Gauteng cluster added, “We would like to apologise to our customers for the inconvenience that this is causing, and we appeal for your patience as we work on restoring supply. We can assure you that our priority is to ensure that supply is restored as speedily as possible.”
