A round of golf in support of rugby

During the prize-giving afterwards, big-ticket items sponsored by supporters of the club were awarded to players for their performance during the day.

The Krugersdorp Sports Club (KCS) in Krugersdorp West and home to the Harlequins Rugby Club is on the rise once again, doing their utmost to rebuild and raise the club to new heights.

To this end, the Harlequins hosted their annual golf day fundraiser on Friday, February 11 with 92 players participating in four-ball golf on the sunny mid-summer’s day at the Krugersdorp Golf Club.

Susara Snyman, KCS and Harlequins secretary said, “The youth rugby and senior squads are in desperate need of funds, with the upliftment of the entire club being the main focus.

KSC strives to ensure that all players across all sporting codes and ages have a place to enjoy the sport they love.”

The rugby division had close to 230 players register in 2021 and as Susara noted, “The majority of our youth players are from homes where finances are a challenge. With so many players with so much natural talent, club fees and transportation are a challenge. Without sponsors the club cannot grow effectively.”

During the prize-giving afterwards, big-ticket items sponsored by supporters of the club were awarded to players for their performance during the day. Holidays to Mozambique and memorabilia of sports legends Brian Mitchell, Francois Pienaar and Morné Steyn were auctioned off, and prizes such as cordless kettles, cooler boxes, beer glasses, four-ball golf vouchers and more were among the prizes.

KSC boasts various sports codes, such as the Nicko Taurus Football Academy and the Western Gauteng Pool and Snooker Association.
