Four arrested in dustbin murder case

Kagiso Police nabbed four men linked to the murder of a man in his 20s who was found in a dustbin last month.

Kagiso Police announced the breakthrough arrests of four men aged between 19 and 32 whom they are calling the ‘Dustbin Killers’.

Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said as part of their continued efforts to bring to book known and wanted suspects in the area, they pounced on four Leratong Village suspects linked to the murder of a man in his 20s whose body was found in a dustbin last month.

Captain Sibiya explained, “On February 1 Kagiso Police were alerted to a crime scene where we discovered the body of an unidentified 26-year-old man inside a garbage bin on a cultivated field near Leratong Village next to the R41 Main Reef Road.

Some members of the community who worked in the field noticed the human hand protruding from the black bin and summoned the police. The police opened the bin and found the lifeless, half-naked body of a man with his hands and feet bound. The deceased also sustained head injuries and bruises to his back.”

Through intensified murder investigations and following up all possible leads provided by some members of the community, the police finally nabbed the four suspects on Sunday, March 13.

Kagiso Police station commander Brigadier Themba Maduna applauded the members for their investigation which led to the arrests of the suspects.

The suspects have all been charged with murder and have since been detained at the Kagiso Police Station, waiting to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
