Second suspect wanted within hours in another rape case

Police are looking for a man who reportedly robbed and raped a woman in a field in January.

The West Rand District Police are searching for a suspect who reportedly robbed a woman before raping her at gunpoint. The crimes were committed in an open field next to Sandpiper Road in Tshepisong West on January 27, 2022 at about 20:15.

Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said, “A friend of the rape victim’s brother, who accompanied her to a spaza shop to buy airtime was shot at while trying to run for his life.

Two thugs thereafter dragged the victim into an open field where they took turns to rape her. The friend sustained a gunshot wound to his lower waist but managed to reach home.

“Kagiso Police are hereby appealing to anyone who might have information or recognises the suspect in the picture to call the investigation officer, Constable Letshoene on 083 593 8793. “You may also call Kagiso Police on 011 696 9000/ 9059/ 9065/ 9067 or the Crime Stop line on 08600 10111. Members of the public can also send information on the SAPS SMS line on 32211 or share it on the My SAPS app and remain anonymous.
