Cancer and GBV survivor a semi-finalist

'If I save just one life by spreading awareness, I am making a difference,'

West Rand beauty Tasnim Young-Norris is thrilled to have been chosen recently as a Bare Beauty Mrs South Africa Semi-finalist for 2022.

According to Tasnim the exciting news came virtually on March 5 via the Mrs South Africa official Instagram page. When she saw the news, she was ecstatic to be one of the beautiful, sophisticated and married women from all over South Africa chosen for this prestige pageant.

We’ve recently attended a self-development workshop at Emperors Palace to prepare us for the road ahead,” she said.

Mrs South Africa is a journey based on pillars of Self-Development, Community Work, Networking, and Business, and has gained the reputation of connecting like-minded women, and equipping them for success in all areas of their lives.

At its core, this is a platform known to celebrate authentic, relatable, and modern South African women. Mrs South Africa recognises the value of marriage, and the essence of being a bona fide woman.

The programme was created for married women who would ordinarily not have such a platform to compete and be ambassadors for South Africa. The opportunities and platform that have been created for Mrs South Africa entrants are significant in every way and it truly creates a ripple effect across the country. Throughout the journey, women discover themselves again, and learn that they are never too old to follow their dreams and become voices of change.

“I am ecstatic and truly humbled to have been chosen as a Mrs South Africa 2022 semi-finalist at the age of 49. As a breast cancer and GBV survivor, a mom, wife, entrepreneur and full-time corporate professional, this opportunity gives me the platform to create awareness on how women should use their past challenges to develop themselves into stronger, more powerful and resilient women,” Tasnim concluded.

If I save just one life by spreading awareness, I am making a difference. My motto is ‘Scars are beautiful!’.”
