LETTER: World War 3 around the corner?

'Christian, Muslim, Jew or atheist will all be impacted equally if it is a world war' – local pastor.

• Pastor Gerrit Mes of the AFM Pentecostal Fellowship writes:

Reading newspapers, watching the news, googling events in our world, we could be weeks, days or even hours away from World War 3.

Suddenly our religion is not a secure fortress. We may not even be able to pray it away. It’s predicted in the Bible.

Christian, Muslim, Jew or atheist will all be impacted equally if it is a world war.

Fuel prices, food availability and war could destroy your little world and mine.

What should we do? Pray for peace and prepare for war. It is during times of great suffering that people turn to God for support.

Even atheists have been heard praying during the darkest days in history. A mantra, the origin of which I don’t know, says, “If God brings you to it, he will bring you through it”.

In all our battles in life, when we look back, we can see and appreciate God’s hand. No matter what happens, I hope to be able to quote the words of the Apostle Paul, “But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength”. Having Jesus in your boat does not guarantee that you won’t experience storms, but you know he will never allow your boat to sink.

P.S. Together we are strong.
