Thugs open fire at patrollers – three wounded

Three community patrollers were shot while they were patrolling their community. The police are asking for any info regarding the six unknown shooters.

Extension 14 residents deploy their safety patrollers to guard their area during the night, and the incident took place on April 9 at about 02:45.

In a statement from Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya, he said six unknown armed thugs opened fire at patrollers as they were patrolling the streets, firing several shots at them.

Three of the patrollers were wounded – a 29-year-old man was shot in his right thigh, a 62-year-old woman was shot in the knee, and a 58-year-old woman was shot in the stomach.

All three were rushed to hospital where they are in a stable condition.

The motive for the shooting is unknown and Kagiso Police have opened attempted murder case dockets.”
