MCLM assures that billing issues will be resolved

MCLM is in the process of migrating to a new financial system.

The News has been inundated with calls from ratepayers complaining about being billed double the usual amount on their municipal accounts this month. The Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) responded to explain the situation.

In a statement, they said MCLM is in the process of migrating to a new financial system.

Because of this, the billing for the April 2022 period was not based on the actual consumption as per the actual readings taken for water and electricity, but on provisional consumption charges.

“Actual readings will be used to adjust your account automatically once the new financial system is active in the next billing cycle,” read the statement.

They explained that payments made during the month of April would not reflect on the latest bill but would be updated on the next bill.

“Your patience and understanding will be appreciated during this transition period.”

They added that MCLM will be switching from Standard Bank to ABSA Bank, therefore their banking details will be changing as of July 1.

“New banking details will be provided on your next municipal statement and on the municipal website only for you to amend your records. For any queries in this regard, please send an email to thabo.masina@mogalecity.gov.za.
