Fire ravages Die Herberg Hotel in CBD – no casualties
A massive fire ripped through the iconic Krugersdorp landmark, causing major damage, but thanks to heroic emergency crews, no lives were lost.
The historic Die Herberg Hotel in Krugersdorp’s CBD was left severely damaged after a fire tore through the three-storey building on Monday night, October 13.

Emergency services responded quickly to contain the blaze, and fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
According to West Rand Emergency Services regional commander Gerhard Nieuwoudt, the department received a call at 20:51 about a structural fire at the corner of Market and Commissioner Street.
He confirmed that personnel from the Krugersdorp Fire Station, reservists and AfriForum volunteers assisted in bringing the fire under control.

Nieuwoudt added that crews cleared the scene at 00:06, and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
The Krugersdorp News was also on the scene earlier today, October 14, when a small flare-up occurred around 10:00. Firefighters acted swiftly to extinguish it.
