50 years of marriage: One beautiful love story
Fifty years of love, respect and togetherness, and their journey continues.
A couple from Monument recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, reminding family and friends that true love can endure, grow stronger and stand the test of time.
Louis and Marie Jacobs were married on December 13 in 1975, and still continue to share a deep and lasting bond.
According to their daughter, Estee, the couple first met in June of that year when they were neighbours. Louis worked as a project manager for 45 years before retiring, while Marie served as a nurse for 25 years before retiring.

Today, the couple enjoys spending their time with family and close friends, often going for walks or relaxing quietly at home.
Louis and Marie celebrated their milestone anniversary with family and friends, enjoying an evening of dinner, shared memories and reflection on their journey together.
When asked how they have kept their marriage strong over the years, Marie offered simple yet heartfelt advice:
Respect, honesty and determination. Never forget that you are your own person. Be an example for children and the younger generation.”
