Roodepark first teams receive boost from UD Trucks N14 donation

UD Trucks N14 took it upon themselves to kit out Roodepark School's first rugby and netball teams with brand new sports bags.

Roodepark School’s first rugby and netball teams received branded sports bags sponsored by a local company, UD Trucks N14.

UD Trucks N14 representatives officially handed over the bags during a ceremony at the school on April 22.

As a school with limited access to sports resources, UD Trucks N14 donated the sports bags to the young athletes to enable participation with pride and confidence.

“We believe that participation in sport builds confidence, promotes health and well-being and most of all should be enjoyed,” says UD Trucks N14 financial manager, Annette Marneweck.

The dealership representative further explained that as part of their broader socio-economic development initiative, UD Trucks N14 is committed to creating opportunities that promote skills development and contribute to the upliftment of the community and the youth.

“We look forward to seeing the future achievements of the youth from this school, both on and off the field”, she added.

School principal, Chris Coetzee, thanked the UD Trucks N14 team, adding that the bags represent a point of pride for the players.

“It distinguishes them as the school’s elite teams. Something to which other players can aspire. We really appreciate that UD Trucks N14 has recognised our school’s outstanding performances both academically and on the sports field,” he said.

Roodepark School’s first rugby team’s achievements on the field of play are such that they have recently moved out of the Learners with Special Educational Needs (LSEN) league, and now play in the high school league as part of Division 4 of the Golden Lions Rugby Union.

“This is a huge achievement for an LSEN school,” says coach Werner Opperman.

“We’re really excited to see how far we can push our team this season,” he concluded.
