Man, 61, sentenced for 2017 fatal motorbike crash
Late in 2017 a collision between a motor vehicle and motorcycle on Main Reef Road near Mindalore claimed the life of a 21-year old man.
A 61-year-old man was convicted and sentenced for culpable homicide after a biker was killed in a crash in 2017.
Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Captain Raymond Sebonyane explained that on December 7, 2017 a collision between a motor vehicle and motorcycle on Main Reef Road near Mindalore claimed the life of a 21-year old man.
The police and emergency services were summoned but the biker was declared dead on the scene and case of culpable homicide was opened.”
Detective Sergeant Abram Maretlwa investigated the case and ensured that the state secured a sentence.
The Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court eventually convicted and sentenced the 61-year old Fanyana North Tsoai from Grobler Park in Roodepoort. He was fined R20 000 and received a two-and-a-half-year sentence which was suspended for five years on the condition that he was not convicted of a similar offence during that time.
Brigadier Happy Xaba, the Krugersdorp police station commander was pleased with the sentence and the member’s hard work. He encouraged the public to report crime to their nearest police station immediately.
