The Kagiso Police recently arrested a man in his early 20s for the possession of stolen property belonging to a primary school.

A 22-year-old man from Rietvallei briefly appeared in the Kagiso Magistrate’s Court recently on a charge of business burglary after stealing gardening tools and equipment from a local primary school.

Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya explained that at about 18:00 on Sunday, February 12, a security guard who was on duty at the time allegedly heard a loud bang inside the school premises.

“He then went around and conducted an inspection in the school garden’s store room.”

The security guard saw the suspect [who he recognised] and fled the scene while he was in possession of a grass cutter, a pick, and a shovel belonging to the school.

The matter was then reported to the police and a case of business burglary was opened at Kagiso police station. A manhunt was launched for the suspect who was eventually cornered and apprehended only a few hours after the case was reported.”
