Woman (91) dies following Noordheuwel home invasion

An elderly woman died after she was assaulted during a home invasion in Matroosberg Street, Noordheuwel.

The Noordheuwel community is shocked after the news that a 91-year-old woman died from her injuries sustained during a home invasion in Matroosberg Street.

Krugersdorp Police’s Flying Squad spokesperson Karen du Plessis confirmed the home invasion took place on Monday, February 3.

“An unknown number of suspects tied up an elderly couple and assaulted them. After they were assaulted, the woman (91) was rushed to hospital, however, she passed away later. Cellphones, money, electronics and jewellery worth an estimated R200 000 were also stolen.”

Dennis Pretorius, a close friend of the elderly man told the News, “He is ok physically but of course devastated by the news of his partner’s passing.”

Du Plessis concluded by saying a case of house robbery is being investigated and they are waiting for official autopsy results.
