Two armed suspects try to bribe cops during operation

Before being arrested for driving a hijacked vehicle and being in possession of an illegal firearm, two suspects attempted to bribe police.

On Saturday, February 15, the police’s West Rand Flying Squad (WRFS) was conducting a stop and search operation in Kagiso which saw many suspects brought to book.

Spokesperson Karen du Plessis said this happened around midday. They first searched a VW Polo and found an unlicensed firearm with the serial numbers removed.

The illegal firearm and cash were found in their possession.

“The car came back as a vehicle that was hijacked in 2024 where two suspects in their 30s proceeded to attempt to bribe the officers with R3 000 cash,” Du Plessis revealed.

She continued they were arrested, and the operation was a success.

“By arresting these suspects, we prevented them from committing another violent crime. With investigation, these suspects can be linked to other crimes committed before,” she concluded.
