Woman reunited with family after Tactical Angels join police in kidnapping case

A community-driven organisation based in Krugersdorp helped police rescue a kidnapped woman and ultimately the arrest of six suspects in Carletonville.

A woman, who was kidnapped in Soweto for ransom, was rescued thanks to a joint effort by police and Krugersdorp-based Tactical Angels (a non-profit company) members last week.

A statement from Tactical Angels confirmed the suspects managed to kidnap the victim, but their plan quickly derailed.

On the afternoon of July 30, six men and two women in a Toyota Quest and Toyota Etios travelled to Carletonville with the kidnapped woman.

“Swift response by police led to an interception and immediate arrest while the kidnappers exited Carletonville,” the statement read.

Tactical Angels was called in to assist police in tracing the remaining suspects who had fled the scene.

“Teams deployed from our Krugersdorp operational base played a crucial role throughout the entire operation. An intensive 23-hour tracing operation commenced, covering multiple high-risk zones, including Krugersdorp, Soweto, Carletonville, Randfontein, Tshepisong, Westonaria and Bekkersdal. Our teams followed up strong leads in Krugersdorp and successfully found one suspect hiding out in Krugersdorp North. After an intense tactical sweep, the suspect was arrested without incident. Our members then redeployed to assist operations across Soweto, Westonaria and Randfontein, ensuring no gaps in the dragnet,” the statement cited.

The statement continued, they arrested six suspects and secured evidence such as the Toyota Quest and three 9mm pistols and ammunition.

“One more victim safely home and reunited with her family. Six suspects behind bars. Two more are still being hunted – and we know exactly where they are. Tactical Angels ground teams remain on deployment to ensure full closure. This is what relentless community protection looks like – from Krugersdorp, for Gauteng. Thank you to every dedicated officer and volunteer who pushed day and night to deliver this result,” the statement concluded.
