Body found dumped in Plastic View informal settlement near CBD

A murder investigation has been opened after a man was allegedly killed by zama zamas in Krugersdorp.

A body was found dumped at the Plastic View informal settlement near the Krugersdorp CBD on Wednesday afternoon, November 5.

According to Ward 20 councillor Mark Trump of Mogale City Local Municipality, the victim was allegedly killed by zama zamas (illegal miners) and his body was discovered at the settlement.

“We received a tip-off at about 15:30 about the body, and residents suspected that the man, believed to be in his late 20s, was killed by illegal miners,” Trump said.

He confirmed that police attended the scene and that a murder investigation has been launched.

The Krugersdorp News reached out to police for comment, but no feedback had been received at the time of publishing.
