Flying Squad recovers hijacked vehicle and unlicensed firearm

West Rand Flying Squad recovers a hijacked vehicle, a homemade firearm and arrests several suspects in recent operations.

The West Rand Flying Squad (WRFS) has been active in keeping the streets safe following a series of recent arrests and recoveries.

According to WRFS spokesperson Karen du Plessis, the squad achieved several successes between January 26 and 31.

On January 26, police patrolling in Mohlakeng recovered an abandoned VW Polo valued at R131 000.

In the late hours of January 29, officers recovered a “kwas” (homemade firearm) and one blank cartridge in Luipaardsvlei. Du Plessis noted that it was an unlicensed firearm recovery.

On January 30 at around 07:00, a suspect was arrested for intimidation in Krugersdorp.

Then, on January 31 at around 02:15, a wanted suspect for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm was arrested in Kagiso.
