One shot, another injured in Muldersdrift hijacking attempt

A suspected hijacker was arrested after a shooting incident that left victims hurt and prompted a swift security response.

A suspect was arrested on the morning of Saturday, 25 April, following reports of an attempted hijacking and gunfire on Beyers Naudé Drive in Muldersdrift.

Guardmax Response and Tactical Units arrived at the scene and assisted the victims while gathering information about the incident. According to Guardmax sales manager Gerrie van Rooyen, one suspect was apprehended, and a firearm was recovered along with the vehicle believed to have been involved.

One victim sustained a gunshot wound, while another was injured while trying to escape. Van Rooyen said the coordinated response helped lead to the arrest, and he acknowledged the role of all parties involved.

A case has been opened with SAPS, and investigations are ongoing.
