Multi-agency operation nets suspect and stolen vehicle in Lewisham

Two signal-jamming devices were recovered following a high-speed chase and foot pursuit on the R28.

Law enforcement officers arrested a suspect and recovered a stolen vehicle in Lewisham following a multi-agency operation on Thursday, October 1.

According to Help 24 Secure CEO Sheldon Grobler, operational members positioned themselves along a known entry route in Muldersdrift after receiving tip-offs about a stolen vehicle. While en route, the vehicle’s tracker signal was detected, confirming that it was traveling along the R28 toward Krugersdorp from Muldersdrift.

“Members commenced tracking operations and subsequently obtained visual confirmation of the vehicle. A pursuit which led to Lewisham followed, during which the suspect vehicle collided with a telephone pole,” Sheldon said.

The suspect abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but was caught and detained.

During the arrest, two signal-jamming devices were recovered.
