Refuse bags next to bin will no longer be collected
Refuse bags that are not inside a wheelie bin will not be collected as of December 1.
Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) informs residents that as of December 1, municipal waste collection teams will no longer remove any refuse bags or any other items that are not inside wheelie bins.
MCLM communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu said this decision was taken to safeguard the health and safety of their personnel, as handling such bags contributes to injuries from sharp objects and medical waste.
“Residents and businesses that require the removal of domestic refuse bags which must be transparent as per waste management policy, must ahead of time contact waste management on 011 951 2102/ 10 for an arrangement. This, however, will have cost implications,” Mahlangu added.
She concluded by thanking the community in advance and for their cooperation.
