Power outage leaves Krugersdorp with water crisis

After the power outages of December 11 and 12, water pressure problems now follow.

The power outage that impacted a large part of Krugersdorp for the past two days has disrupted operations at the Kenmare pumping station, leaving it unable to supply water.

Councillor Lourens Gouws has informed the community that this has caused a significant drop in water pressure, and as of today, December 13, many residents are experiencing little to no water.

“Rand Water’s maintenance work also began this morning at 07:00 and could continue for up to 86 hours,” Gouws stated.

“There is a possibility this may further impact our water supply.”

He reassured residents that all affected areas have already been reported, and water tankers have been requested.

“We are facing a challenging weekend regarding water availability. If you encounter issues, please contact us directly,” he added.

Gouws emphasised the importance of using water sparingly during this time.
