Municipality debunks corruption rumours

Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) refrains from commenting on alleged corruption of officials.

Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) has picked up messages circulating on social media platforms referencing an informal communication titled ‘Corruption by Mogale City officials at the Training Centre. MOJA Love on its way’.

MCLM communications officer Tendani Shavhani said they want to clarify that the management of the Chamdor Training Centre is currently overseen by a third party, which has no contractual arrangement or service-level agreement with them.

“Any matters related to the management, lease agreements or associated fees fall outside the municipality’s authority where all related enquiries should be directed to the third party.

“Given that the matter is sub judice (currently before the courts and restricted from public discussion), the municipality will not disclose the name of the third party or comment further at this stage.

The municipality’s legal division is awaiting a court ruling, which will guide our next steps regarding the training centre.

“Following the court’s decision and subsequent engagements, the municipality will issue an official media and public statement addressing the matter.

“We urge the media, stakeholders and members of the public to respect the sensitivity of the issue and refrain from speculative discussions that could compromise due legal processes,” she concluded.
