Power restored following mass blackout

Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) reveals the cause of the power outage on Wednesday afternoon.

Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) confirmed power has been restored following a mass blackout on Wednesday afternoon.

MCLM communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu revealed the cause of the power outage saying it was due to a trip at Eskom’s Westgate substation, which supplies Krugersdorp.

“This follows heavy rainfall throughout the afternoon,” she said.

Mass power outage hits Mogale City

Councillor Amy Steyn confirmed there is a widespread power outage in Mogale City stretching as far as Magaliesburg.

She said the power went out before 17:00 on March 19 saying this is an Eskom-related issue.

“Technicians have been dispatched, however, there is no estimate when power will be restored,” Steyn concluded.
