Rand Water completes pipeline repairs

The Eikenhof Pump Station is back online, and water levels are slowly but surely recovering according to the municipality. However, high-lying areas may face delays.

Mogale City Local Municipality’s (MCLM) Water Services is pleased to inform residents and businesses that Rand Water has completed repairs to the major burst pipeline, which affected the water supply across large parts of the city since Sunday, May 18.

MCLM communications officer Adrian Amod confirmed that pumping has started again at the Eikenhof Pump Station, and reservoir levels will slowly return to normal over the next few days.

If water is used sparingly, most areas should have a full water supply soon. However, some higher-lying areas may take a bit longer to recover.

“We understand the high demand for water tankers and apologise for any delays. Hospitals and clinics have been given priority, and tankers will continue to be sent to areas based on ward councillor requests until supply is fully restored,” he added.

Amod concluded they will keep residents updated if more information comes to light.
