#WestRandWaterAlert: Reservoir recovery is not instant, says municipality

Mogale City explains what happens next after Rand Water's scheduled maintenance was concluded.

Rand Water’s scheduled maintenance was successfully concluded on July 2, and fortunately for now, Krugersdorp’s water supply is stable.

Mogale City Local Municipality communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu explained, Rand Water will now gradually increase pumping; however, reservoir recovery is not instant.

She said this is due to water flowing into bulk reservoirs and must rise to the required levels before the supply is stabilised.

Next, municipal distribution systems release water to local areas in a controlled way to avoid pressure surges.

“Water pressure gradually returns to normal levels as reservoirs reach sufficient capacity,” she concluded.
