A large group of protesters has gathered at Town Hall in the CBD to express their dissatisfaction with Mogale City Local Municipality’s electricity tariffs.

Resident Zahir Nolvi told the Krugersdorp News that they have lived in Azaadville their whole lives but are extremely dissatisfied, leaving them little to no choice but to make their voices heard today, September 16.

“Never in my life did I think we would have to do this. Electricity has become unaffordable for many residents, especially in their senior years,” Nolvi said.

He added that Azaadville community members, including those from informal settlements, are taking part in the protest to serve and represent their community.

A municipal representative has since come to collect the residents’ memorandum.
