Billing errors affect new prepaid customers in Mogale City

Officials promise account adjustments after the Mogale City prepaid billing error.

Several residents were incorrectly billed for September and October despite switching to prepaid meters. Mogale City officials say the issue was due to delayed data updates, and all affected accounts will be corrected.

According to Mogale City Local Municipality’s (MCLM) assistant manager for media and PR, Refilwe Mahlangu, billing management is aware of the issue.

“This happened because MCLM received the updated list of customers who had converted to prepaid from our contractor during the billing run.”

She added that billing should have been based on the final disconnection reading of the previous meter.

“We assure all affected residents that the necessary account adjustments are being made to correct this,” Mahlangu concluded.
