Rand Water maintenance moved to June

Residents in parts of Mogale City may still experience temporary water disruptions today as reservoir cleaning continues, with water tankers deployed to assist affected areas.

Rand Water has advised Mogale City Water Services that the maintenance work, which commenced on Tuesday, January 6 at 04:00, has been postponed to June due to isolation challenges.

As a result, the Kagiso and Azaadville reservoirs are currently pumping as normal.

According to Mogale City Local Municipality’s senior communications practitioner, Refilwe Mahlangu, planning had been done in anticipation of the maintenance.

“As part of this, the Kagiso Ext 13 reservoir was allowed to run empty, with cleaning and disinfection scheduled during this period. This process is currently underway and is expected to be completed by 16:00 today [January 7], after which water supply will be restored to affected communities,” she said.

In the interim, Mahlangu added that water tankers are being deployed.

“Affected residents are encouraged to contact their ward councillor for information on tanker distribution points,” Mahlangu concluded.
