Reminder: Krugersdorp to face 12-hour power outage on Sunday

Residents are urged to prepare as a citywide outage from 06:00 to 18:00 will take place for essential maintenance at the Westgate substation.

Residents are reminded that the whole of Krugersdorp will experience a 12-hour power outage on Sunday, March 29, from 06:00 to 18:00.

According to Mogale City Local Municipality’s assistant manager for media and PR, Refilwe Mahlangu, the outage is necessary for Eskom to perform full bay maintenance at the Westgate substation in Krugersdorp.

She urged residents to treat all electrical wires as live and to switch off appliances to prevent damage when power is restored.

The Krugersdorp News recommends preparing for the outage by:

• charging portable and handheld devices
• using power banks
• preparing no-cook or low-cook meals such as sandwiches, wraps and snacks
• keeping the fridge and freezer closed as much as possible
• downloading TV shows and movies on devices
• having a book ready to read
