Mogale City urges water conservation as reservoirs struggle to recover

Mogale residents are urged to conserve water as the municipality continues supplying affected areas with tankers while reservoir levels recover.

Despite gradual recovery following Rand Water and Eskom’s maintenance, several Mogale City reservoirs remain critically low, with Munsieville currently still at 0%.

Following urgent maintenance on water infrastructure by Rand Water and Eskom between July 17 and 19, Mogale City Local Municipality’s assistant manager for Media and PR, Refilwe Mahlangu, said the system remains under severe strain despite water levels slowly increasing.

“The recovery of the water supply system is gradual and takes time,” she reiterated.

Mahlangu said the municipality will continue dispatching water tankers in co-ordination with ward councillors.

“We urge residents to remain patient as the system recovers. If you have water, we encourage you to use it sparingly and only for essential purposes to help stabilise and restore the system as quickly as possible,” she concluded.
