Three successful convictions all thanks to one detective

The Krugersdorp Police's Station Commander commended Captain Robertson for securing three different convictions.

The Krugersdorp Police’s Station Commander Brigadier Happy Xaba has welcomed the sentencing of three criminals in different cases following the diligent work of one detective – Captain Conrad Robertson.

In the first, the Kagiso Regional Court recently sentenced 25-year-old Roy Noki Phofugae from Munsieville to eight years imprisonment for murder. Phofugae was sentenced and declared unfit to possess a firearm after he was convicted of the murder of a 43-year-old Munsieville man.

In a statement from the Krugersdorp Police’s Captain Raymond Sebonyane he explained that on January 12, 2020 at a bout 11:00 the police were called out to a murder scene at Bafitlhile Street in Munsieville.

“On arrival at the scene, they found a male lying faced up next to a palisade fencing.”

The victim had several stab wounds on his lower body and was declared dead on the scene. A murder case was opened and the case was investigated by Detective Captain Conrad Robertson who worked tirelessly on the case.

“Through investigation, the accused was arrested. The investigating officer made sure that the state get a successful sentence.”

Captain Robertson also secured two other successful convictions.

The 29-year-old Thabo Mashiane from Kagiso Extension 12 was fined R2 000 or six months in prison, by the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court after he was found guilty of shoplifting. He was also found guilty of escaping from lawful custody and was fined R5 000 or 12 months in prison.

In the third case, 23-year-old Setumo Rasekgopela was found guilty of reckless and negligent driving as well as fraud. Rasekgopela was sentenced by the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court. On count one, for reckless and or negligent driving he was fined R2 000 and on count two – fraud, he was fined R6 000 or 12 months in prison.

“The accused was also found guilty on defeating the ends of justice and was fined R6 000 or two years imprisonment.”

Brigadier Xaba applauded Robertson for a job well done.
