Nozazi Foundation helps to feed the mind and body

The Nozazi Foundation was joined by the team from Jabula Bets to deliver donations and educate the learners about reading and nutrition at a local daycare and pre-school.

Learners from Boitumelo Daycare and Pre-school were treated to a fun-filled day of food and stories when the team from Nozazi Foundation visited them.

On Thursday, November 10 the team from the organisation was joined by the team from Jabula Bets to deliver donations and educate the learners about reading and nutrition.

Babalwa Jeju, one of Nozazi Foundation’s founders, told the News they decided to visit the school because one of their directors’ children was in this school many years ago. She explained that it was his birthday and when his child attended the school there were times when he could not pay the school fees but that the principal still helped out and looked after his child even in hard times.

They do many of these types of learning events at early childhood development centres. During their visit they gave the children books, toys and nutritious food. This formed part of their lesson and they taught the children about eating healthy and also about maintaining their hygiene. The teams then read stories to the children, as Babalwa said that a healthy body and mind is of utmost importance.

The teams also donated healthy cereals, clothes, books and toys to the school for future use. Many of these donations were thanks to the generous hearts from the Jabula Bets team, the Mayor’s office and the Swaneville library.

She said the visit formed part of their social responsibility and the Nozazi Foundation regularly donate food parcels, school shoes and sanitary pads to township schools from Soweto, Kagiso and Vosloorus.

They also do skills development with the youth, run a gender based violence awareness program and recently held a breast cancer awareness campaign.

The foundation was founded during the 2020 lockdown and Babalwa said they used to host soup kitchens in Protea Glen but realised that so many people had lost their jobs during that time, and with them having stable jobs they wanted to give back and help.
