More than just a full tummy this Christmas
Two companies recently donated 500 bottles of vitamins to the Cradle of Hope.
Having a full tummy is one thing, but getting all the vitamins and nutrients you need is not always possible when you have to depend on food parcels.
Many times food parcels consists of donated non-perishable food and although these foods keep the hungry fed, they do not always contain everything needed for a healthy and balanced meal to sustain a young, growing grow.
But with the help of Sanlam and Bonitas, the Cradle of Hope (COH) can now ensure that their beneficiaries are fed and healthy. On Thursday, November 24 these companies donated 500 bottles of vitamins to the organisation.
Craig Blignaut from Sanlam’s 2one2 Blue Star division explained that he had met Dima Tomotomo from the COH at a business networking event and after talking to her they have made many donations to the organisation.
Recently, they were at a conference where Bonitas, who is the preferred medical aid for Sanlam employees, also attended. Lynn van der Nest and Charmaine Byleveld from Bonitas were handing out supplements to all the conference goers. It is then that Craig decided that he was going to ask them if he can have the surplus supplements to donate to the COH.
But the two women came through in an even bigger way when they told him that they would rather make a donation to the organisation.
Craig said he is well aware of the COH’s feeding scheme and hoped that this donation will help with good nutrition.
Dima said the donation meant the world to them and they will be adding these vitamins to their Christmas food parcels. She hoped the vitamins would give their beneficiaries a great immune system boost.
