Miss Krugersdorp finalist brings festive smiles

Be the everlasting gift. That is what Nandi Oosthuizen has her sights set on this holiday season.

Nandi Oosthuizen, a Miss Krugersdorp finalist, has taken it upon herself to brighten the day of children at Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital’s Paediatric ward on Friday December 9 by donating cupcakes and balloons. This was one of her many outreach efforts during the holiday season.

Oosthuizen was assisted by Matilda de Villiers who donated the cupcakes.

“I just want to make a difference. I focus mainly on neglected places, places that actually need attention because my goal is to make a difference for the less fortunate,” Oosthuizen said.

In addition to donating to the private hospital, Oosthuizen gathered dog and cat food to donate to the Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary in Randfontein. She then approached the Adonai Sorg vir Bejaardes old age home, where two of her grandmothers, Elsabe Marais and Elize Bruyns, purchased wool to knit slippers for all the elderly women.

“They appreciated it so much, while some of them wore their slippers the moment they got hold of them and started eating their cookies, while others shed a tear or two with appreciation for the gifts,” said Oosthuizen.

Lastly, Oosthuizen also handed out cookies to elderly at the old age home, which was donated by Wessies Bakery in Krugersdorp West.
