Muldersdrift truck crash leaves driver in critical condition

A truck crash in Muldersdrift this past Friday left a driver in a critical condition.

A 41-year-old truck driver sustained critical injuries after the truck rolled on the N14 near the M5 (Beyers Naude Drive) off ramp in Muldersdrift on Sunday, 15 January.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said they along with other emergency services arrived on scene at about 17:00 only to find the wrecked heavy vehicle lying on its side.

“The 41-year-old man was seen lying trapped inside the cab of the truck.

“Medics then assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition upon arrival. Rescue Medics had to use specialised equipment to free the man from the truck while paramedics treated him and provided him with advanced life support interventions.

“Once treated, the man was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a nearby hospital for urgent care.”

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
