With an ending comes a new beginning and that was exactly the case for the rookie Grade 8 learners from Hoërskool Bastion.
On Thursday, January 26 at 18:00 parents of the young learners were invited to watch a concert at Hoërskool Bastion put together by teacher Jackie du Toit and the matric prefects with the Grade 8’s being the entire cast.

Principal Gert Koekemoer explained that the teacher heading the entire concert came up with the idea of an arcade themed concert to which he was hesitant about in the beginning, however eventually he said he’d agree to the idea if everything would be translated to Afrikaans. And the teacher together with the matric prefects took the challenge head-on and put together a concert that everyone regarded as fun!

What would a concert with rookies be without a little competition?
The best war cry was given to Grade 8 A – Super Marius Broers, best improvement went to Grade 8 T – Ruimte Indringers, best banner went to Grade 8 A Super Marius Broers making this a second win for the group, Best dance went to Grade 8 S – Suiker Stroomloop, best team spirit was given to the matric prefects, best class all rounder was given to Grade 8 S – Suiker Stroomloop this would be their second win for the evening.
