Kingswood Academy majorette team qualifies for national champs

Kingswood Academy Majorette Team will be competing in Cape Town and they need your help to get there.

Kingswood Academy is proud to announce that its majorette team qualified for the 2023 Federation of Dance Drill, Cheerleading and Majorette Sport South Africa Championships taking place between July 6 and 12 in Cape Town. This comes after a successful provincial campaign.

The team consists of 30 members made up of a diverse group of learners ranging from grades 4 to 6. Despite going up against some of the very best majorette teams from across the country, including Sonieke Primary School, Laerskool Kanonkop and Avondale Primary in the mother city soon, they all have high hopes.

Should Kingswood Academy shine at the national championships, they will be eligible to compete at the Majorette Sport World Championships in Croatia in August.

Kingswood Academy hopes to their learners make it to the national championships, however, they are asking for the community to assist them with the travel costs and accommodation.

“We are proud of the majorettes. This serves as encouragement and great motivation for all other Kingswood Academy teams. We now appeal to the community to help us where we fall short financially if at all possible,” asked school spokesperson Busisiwe Kyeswa.
