Dalmatians-themed party for 101-year-old Granny Suzie

Suzie van Zyl made headlines in 2023 having celebrated her 100th birthday. She turned 101 recently and is still ageing gracefully.

Family and friends again gathered at Grandma Suzie van Zyl’s house to celebrate another milestone.

In 2023, Suzie made headlines having celebrated her 100th birthday. This year, she turned 101 and still ageing gracefully.

The News was invited to her birthday party recently where it was evident that Suzie is much adored and loved by her family. To celebrate the occasion, the family held a 101 Dalmatians-themed party.

Suzie was born in Pietersburg on January 16, 1923, and years later married Chris van Zyl. The couple then moved to Krugersdorp in 1951.

She has led an elegant life and enjoys making dolls, painting lovely things on textiles or pieces of material, and decorating beads. Today, her hands are sore, but she still likes to give her hobbies a go. Furthermore, she loves to feed the birds by her bedroom window, and in her younger days, Suzie was a champion table tennis player.

According to Suzie’s granddaughter, Dorita van Loggerenberg, they have been blessed with her presence for many years.

“She lives each day to the fullest and is grateful. She always respects others and loves those near and dear to her. We do too and appreciate each day with her,” Dorita said.

Suzie has two children Martie Herbst and Willie van Zyl (who passed away). Altogether she has five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She currently lives with her daughter.
