Local entrepreneurs to get govt’s backing
The government has made it clear in Kagiso that they are here to assist and support local entrepreneurs starting their businesses.
Tasneem Motara, MEC for the Gauteng Department of Economic Development (GDED) together with Mogale City’s Enterprise and Rural Development Services visited Kagiso for their GP Plug Roadshow.
According to Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu, the aim was to empower small medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) and bring departmental services to the people.
“Various departmental services were presented and discussed with highly engaging attendees,” said Mahlangu.
Mogale City’s Enterprise and Rural Development Services manager Deon Govender further outlined the services and assistance that his department offers which include business development, compliance and registration.
“We encourage attendees to make use of these services,” Deon said.
Delivering her keynote address, the MEC highlighted that the GDED through its partners, has and is continuing to assist local entrepreneurs in various communities to start and grow their businesses – whether financially or through business aspects such as human resources, marketing and more.
She further shared that the department not only focuses on businesses but is also in the employ of consumer affairs champions to help with consumer protection and the enforcement of consumer rights.
