Female musician Zanele Vallem based in Kagiso hopes to inspire.
The latest star to emerge from Krugersdorp is none other than artist Zanele Vallem known by her stage name, Zain Vee.
Zain Vee is a vocalist based in Kagiso who hopes to inspire. At an early age, she had this deep desire and passion for music, and growing up, she was heavily inspired by genres such as gospel, acapella, and soul.
To add, Zain Vee used to participate in school choirs and was a lead singer. She further excelled as a performer and began to develop her craft as a singer and writer.
She has since then gone on to perform on stage for many up-and-coming established musicians such as the Flame Zone, Unspoken Words, Flamingo, Urban Zulu Rooftop, and Mohlakanyo.
In 2018, she started recording her first single with the Matsoko Brothers band and gained attention from the hip-hop show, Lection Session. She also bagged a South African Traditional Music Achievement Award in the best newcomer category.
Always one to embrace the next adventure, Zain Vee recently appeared on The Red Chair podcast (episode 10) working alongside the Smangori for her EP titled Impumelelo. She was also featured by Kagiso Moreki in a song titled Yekelani Umona which now has over 9 000 monthly streams.
Zanele hopes to capture the hearts of many people in music and expressed her desire to make sure women have a voice.
“The music industry has always been more male-dominated. Few women make it big in the entertainment industry or gain major fame for that matter. A female musician like Makhadzi, is my role model and hopefully, I can too inspire other female aspiring artists,” she said.
