Girl Guides bring smiles to the faces of toddlers

There was an atmosphere of kindness and giving at a daycare centre after Girl Guides from Krugersdorp visited them.

A group of nine Girl Guides from the first Krugersdorp Guide Company recently visited a daycare centre run by Wings of Inspiration in Krugersdorp.

The guides divided into three groups prepared age-appropriate games for different classes, using booklets for counting, colours, and textures. Activities included singing, dancing and co-ordination. After the visit, guides provided party food for all the children.

According to Diane Ring, the Girl Guides had never done a visit like this before and some of the games didn’t work out as planned.

“The guides had to think on their feet and adapt their plans, which they did quite competently. They learned about planning for an event carefully beforehand and realised that plans don’t always work out, so you have to think on your feet and adapt your plans to the situation,” Diane expressed.

She elaborated, “Seeing the smiles on the faces of the guides, as well as the kids they were interacting with was my favourite moment of the visit and hopefully the dancing, throwing and catching balls helped develop their co-ordination. It was also a special time for them to interact with the guides who cheered them on when they got things right and gave them a little prize.

At the end of the visit, the receptive children also received hugs from the Girl Guides.

“The kids loved the visit and participated with enthusiasm once they got over their initial shyness,” Diane concluded.
