Public encouraged to donate school shoes for needy kids

Donate a pair of school shoes for children living in Muldersdrift informal settlements.

School shoes are something many might take for granted and it was revealed that some children in several impoverished communities are in great need.

Councillor Shenan Cochrane has once again partnered with local businesses to collect school shoes for children in informal settlements this Christmas. The initiative aims to ease the financial burden on parents by helping them prepare for the 2025 school year, as school supplies often cause significant stress.

“The shoe shops have some great offers starting at around R135 per pair and we are collecting all sizes of boys’ and girls’ school shoes,” Shenan explained.

“We’ll be distributing the shoes at the end of December. Help us to help them – take the stress away from parents and put smiles on young faces,” she encouraged the community.

If you want to donate towards this cause, contact Shenan on 083 510 4745 for the location of the donation boxes.
